Zoo Atlanta sits inside Grant Park, which makes it an easy morning for a group with mixed ages: animals for the kids, shade and coffee for the grown-ups. The gorilla habitat is one of the best in the US, and the KIDZone has a petting zoo, a train and a playground when attention spans run out.
Bring swimsuits in summer for the splash fountain. It’s compact enough to see in three hours, and Grant Park’s picnic lawns are right outside the gate if you’d rather bring lunch than buy it.
