The name
A volta is the turn in a sonnet, the line where the poem changes direction and nothing after it reads the same way.
We named the company after it because that is what our guests are travelling for. A weekend that marks the before and after.
Who we host
Most of our guests arrive as a group: three generations for a graduation, cousins in town for a wedding, a reunion that finally got everyone in one place. They need beds for all of them, a kitchen that can feed a crowd, and somewhere the kids can run.
Our homes are chosen with that group in mind, so the weekend is spent together rather than split across hotel rooms.
How we set up a home
Our homes are chosen and set up for how a big family actually spends a weekend together. The occasion happens wherever you have planned it. The house is where the family comes back to.
Bedrooms and beds for the whole group, so nobody ends up on a couch. Homes chosen for how a family actually spreads out over a long weekend.
Pools, hot tubs, game rooms, backyards. Amenities vary by home, but every one is set up so the group can stay put and still have a good time.
Pack ’n Plays, high chairs and blackout curtains as standard, with playgrounds and bunk rooms at some homes. Bring the baby, not the gear.
The host
Volta Stays is owner-run from Atlanta. There is no call centre and no management layer between you and the house. The person who chose each home, furnished it and stocked the kitchen is the person who reads your first message and answers the phone during your stay.
That is a deliberate choice. A family weekend runs on small things: a late check-in, a cot that needs setting up, a restaurant recommendation for sixteen. Those are easier to get right when the host knows the house because they built it.
